Vaisravana

Also known as the Northern Guardian or Guardian King. He is seated on lion, an unfamiliar animal in Himalayan, crafted in an unrealistic and creative way in front of a red flaming halo. Vaisravana is holding black mongoose spitting jewels on his left hand, and victory banner on another hand.

Distemper on cloth; holding a book and begging bowl, the golden-skinned arhat is richly clad in multiple robes seated under a bending tree and attended by a diminutive monk, the fantastical landscape with two birds on an upper ledge and a female figure below crouching by a blue elephant drinking from a lake, another blue and white elephant at play within the rich stylized rock work and cloud forms; verso with a blessing in Chinese.
